CURSES, FOILED AGAIN

Has anyone heard that phrase in the last 50 years? It pertains because your favorite balabusta (that would be me) made a mess while trying to do just the opposite — cleaning the house for company. I wanted to refrigerate some Coke, and when I opened the carton and took out the first can, it jiggled another one that had a tiny puncture in it, as sometimes happens, and it sprayed itself all over my white kitchen. What, it couldn't have been 7-Up? It couldn't have been Sprite? It was COKE. Coke is BROWN. I was on my hands and knees cleaning the floor and cabinets; it didn't spray quite all the way to the ceiling, but it made an effort. You do your best to improve stuff and just make everything worse. This is where Yiddish is perfect: Ah moisheh kapoyeh . . . everything is upside down and backwards.
