MEANWHILE, BACK IN THE SHTETL . . .

In response to "One Hot Dog, Please, with a Side Order of Fraud" (see post dated December 20), ANONYMOUS wrote: "People are presumed Christian, and when they are not, the media lets the reader know. WHY?"

Mollie says: On the other hand, Ben Bernanke is Time's "Person of the Year," and they make it clear that he's Jewish. It's a favorable article, so I guess my kvetch is invalid, at least specifically.

It's very likely that Bernanke's mother is still hoping he'll go to medical school.
