JEWISH HOME IMPROVEMENT

Jay and I want to wallpaper a room.   (That is, we want a room wallpapered — but not by us.   We’re Jewish and genetically unable.   This is like saying, “We need to change the oil in our BMW.”   Does that mean we know what to do after we lift the hood?   No.   It also does not mean that we have a BMW.)   So I call my handyman.   All I get is a recorded message that he’s gone for a while.   Jay is just as glad I can’t reach the handyman, because the Newman Law of Redecorating states that any wallpaper that’s already on the wall is better than any wallpaper that’s not.

  1. We just did a lot of rennovation, but we paid to have others do it. It seemed like a Jewish thing to do.
